The Samana Peninsula is home to several national parks, the most famous of which is Los Haitises.
Los Haitises is a huge reserve that has preserved its ecosystem since ancient times.
The park has more than 700 species of plants and more than 110 species of birds, some of which are endemic.
Another interesting attraction of the park is the caves of the Taino Indians, where ancient drawings and messages from the first inhabitants of the island have been preserved on the walls.

Our excursion to the Los Haitises National Park will start early in the morning, as the road from Puerto Plata to the Samana Peninsula will take about 3 hours.
Along a picturesque road, stopping here and there to take photos and drink invigorating Dominican coffee, we will arrive in the city of Sanchez, from where we will take a small boat to the Los Haitises National Park.
Sailing between picturesque green hills, we will land in a cave of the Taino Indians, where we can imagine how this ancient people lived and see the rock paintings that have come down to us.
Returning to the boat through the mangroves, which are very diverse here, we will go out to the rocky islands, where a huge number of birds live.
If you turn off the boat and look around, you can see how pelicans hunt in the water, and Haitian buzzards circle above the mountains, birds that live only here.
Next we will move to the beach, where a cool mountain river flows into the waters of the warm Atlantic Ocean, to swim and refresh ourselves with nutritious coconut milk and snack on fruits.
The boat ride will take us about 2.5 hours, after which we will return to the shore and move to the central part of the Samana Peninsula, to the beginning of the excursion to El Limon Waterfall.
